Publishing your Mathcasts with the Elmo Camera and Jing

1. Download the Imagemate software

Get your paper, and a dark pen ready.
  • Make sure your hand placement under the ELMO is clear

Recording.
  • When you are ready to record, click the JING sun window in the top right corner. (don’t see the Jing Sun in the corner? Open it in your applications folder). You’ll get an option to drag a box down to select your area. You’ll find that you can move this window all around if you need to.
  • When you are ready. Hit record. You get three seconds to get prepared. You have a maximum of 5 minutes.

Mathcasting Tips: While recording, make sure the tell folks, what the concept is that you are about to go over. When you are done, repeat that as well. This was....(solving ratios).
  • Math concepts/ ideas. I think you can use mathcasts to do two things. 1. Explain a concept. 2. Work through a problem. It doesn’t have to be rocket science, but you can guide and shape a student’s online engagement.


5.
Finishing:
  • When you are done recording. Hit stop.
  • Click the Youtube button. It is set to publish to the mathademics site. Make sure to title it appropriately.
  • The password for Mathademics is: mathisfun


6.
Finalizing: We will edit the channel often, making sure that the videos are tagged correctly and the descriptions are accurate.
